The proud “rescue” team (c) Bräustüberl Tegernsee

On 4 July 2015, youths mounted a 'rescue operation' to salvage
treasures lying at the bottom of  Lake Tegernsee in southern Bavaria.

These 'treasures' were mainly in the form of beer mugs, bottles and
rubbish that had accumulated from many years of beer festivals and
events held near the lakeshore.

On that day, the youths valiantly snorkelled or dove from the
Bräustüberl Footbridge, into four to seven metres of water.

After many
hours of hard diving work, the resultant haul was enormous: as many as
400 beer mugs and bottles were recovered, and then were neatly lined up
along the bank.

The idea to retrieve the beer mugs was proposed during a meeting of
Herzoglichen Bräustüberl owner Peter Hubert and freediver Hubert Maier.

All the youths who took part in the rescue received a well-deserved
free serving of Brotzeit (Bavarian snack) at the Bräustüberl.

Good job, young divers!
