Hello everybody and welcome to my new blog! My last blog was about diving in Mexican cenotes - check it out here if you havn’t read it yet!
As you can see from the title, this time I’ll help you to find the perfect Christmas gift while also supporting the environment...
Christmas is just around the corner and before you know it, it will be here! It's best to start finding Christmas gifts early.
Supporting the environment with Christmas presents is very easy. Today I'll give you a few nice ideas that not only help protect the environment but are also the perfect gift...
I'll start with reusable straws. They are now available in a variety of designs and are perfect for any celebration, family gathering or on the go. They are even available in a mini storage box which you can hang on a key ring. Isn’t that cool?! You can also find them made out of steel, however, my personal favorites are those made of glass. Not only do they look incredibly stylish, they also make drinking a lot more fun, just like drinking from a glass instead of a plastic cup or a glass bottle instead of a plastic one. I think you know exactly what I mean. If not, you should absolutely try in order to see the difference.
As we have already mentioned bottles, the next gift idea is a refillable drinking bottle. I already use them every day. Here in Egypt I can’t fill the bottle up from a tap, but as we have a water dispenser at work I save on using many small plastic water bottles. I get many compliments for that and a lot of people have started doing the same.
A few years ago I received a charm bracelet which is my next idea for a Christmas present. You can find many different kinds of charms, one of my first charms was a starfish, but you can also show your love for the sea with an octopus, turtle, dolphin and a lot more. You can hang your charms on a necklace which also looks beautiful.
I also have the perfect solution for no longer using cotton pads - reusable cotton pads. You can use them, wash them and reuse them many times. I’m sure a friend or family member will absolutely love this present.
One of the things which all divers need is a dive computer, so if you're looking for a bigger budget present why not give a dive computer. The good thing here is that a dive computer does not take up much space, does not weigh much and is always useful. Your scuba diving loved ones are guaranteed to love it.
Another thing that everyone should use to protect the environment are shopping baskets, cotton/linen bags or reusable fruit and vegetable nets. My idea is to integrate these things into your christmas present. For example, you can fill a basket with delicious pralines or seasonal fruits, maybe both, and in addition you can place a diving computer, underwater lamp, camera or diving mask in one.
Don't forget, if you give a dive mask, also give an anti-fog gel and perhaps a neoprene mask strap to prevent long hair from getting caught.
Some supermarkets sell reuseable fruit and vegetable nets. To integrate one into your Christmas present, you could fill it with oranges or mandarins.
These are some of my Christmas gift ideas, some of which can also support the environment. I hope you liked them and they have helped you in some way. I’m very interested to know if you already use some of these products and what you are doing to support the environment. Let me know in the comments below!
