Hello everybody and welcome to my new blog! In my last blog, I told you about my dive preparation routine. Check it out if you haven't seen it yet!
This time, I'll answer the most frequently asked questions I receive from you...
I've been living in Egypt since October 2015. At the beginning, I planned on staying for 6 months, now this year will already be my 4th...it's been a long time! Sometimes the time passed very slowly, but in general it went fast.
Some people ask me "Why are you living in Egypt?" and some dream about my life here. There are people who tell me "Semra, you're living my dream, I love to see what you're up to on Instagram and Facebook!". Some of my friends are very proud, and some are worried for various reasons. Because of this, I always try to give them content and show them what's going on. I'll never be able to show everyone exactly what I feel, or how it is to live far away from home, but I can show you some parts of my new life, and today I want to speak about it!
Diving was one of the reasons I had the chance to change my life and, as I told you, I didn’t know that it would become something I would be doing for such a long time. I never expected it to change my life so much. In one of my first blogs I wrote about how I started my dive adventure, check it out if you haven’t read it yet.
Sometimes your life moves in directions you never expected or planned. This happened to me. I’ve been working in the diving industry for nearly 4 years now, working for one of the biggest dive organizations, SSI, one of the biggest dive equipment producers, Mares, and one of the biggest dive centers worldwide, Orca Dive Clubs.
All my past experiences have brought me here! I had good instructors and good leaders, but of course everything didn't always go right. I learned from experience, and this experience has made me stronger. These four years have meant hard work, meeting a lot of new people, learning a different culture and gaining life experience. They have also meant being far from my friends, my home, and the hardest thing for me, my family.
The reason I stay in Egypt is my love for a very special person and of course my love for the sea. I have learned that if you love somebody or something, then it is the strongest thing on Earth. So the answer to the question "Why are you living in Egypt?" is LOVE and passion.
Diving takes you to different places around the world. It helps create friendships and can also lead you to love. Trust me, it’s not just a passion, it’s so much more!
Tell me about your passion. What makes you strong? Would you live far away from home or do you already do so? Let me know your answers in the comments below!
